Among the agenda of the 17 SDGs, Axiomtek focuses particularly on: (5) Gender Equality, (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, and (17) Partnerships for the Goals. In response to the rising concept of green environmental protection, countries around the world have been actively employing renewable energies as part of an effort to lower carbon emissions and reduce damage to the earth. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not only limited to environmental protection. To successfully accomplish corporate social responsibility, an enterprise must keep up with international trends and is committed to fulfilling corporate citizenship obligations, valuing corporate governance, and being responsible for all of its stakeholders including employees and shareholders. The transparency and integrity of an enterprise should also be reviewed by the general public. For four consecutive years, Axiomtek has earned the distinctive honor of the Taiwan Excellence Awards for product innovation, localization of research, development and manufacturing, and global brand recognition. As per the third Evaluation Results of Corporate Governance for 2016, Axiomtek’s ranking climbed higher compared to the previous year, jumping into the top 5% bracket. These honors are solid proof of Axiomtek’s dedication to cultivation of technology, adherence to the principle of good faith, as well as constant superior governance.
From the very outset of product development, Axiomtek has always put the goal of minimizing energy consumption in mind, making every effort to curb energy consumption throughout the entire process of material selection, product design, supplier management, and manufacturing. We encourage suppliers to reduce product carbon footprint by working with us to form a green supply chain and develop green design products. Reduction of carbon footprint emissions can be achieved by altering the process of raw material mining and manufacturing, assembly, and transportation. As a result, in 2016, the share of domestic purchases rose as high as 91% and helped reduce the carbon emissions generated by transportation.
To carry out a solid promise to stakeholders of holding ourselves out as an environmentally friendly organization, Axiomtek has shown its achievements in reducing carbon emissions and its ability to independently validate and verify such reductions through an inspection report on greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with ISO 14064. In addition, Axiomtek has been reinforcing risk management to avoid obstacles to international trade by meeting all management guidelines on banned and restricted hazardous substances as required by customers. For the implementation of green design and the control of hazardous substances, Axiomtek is scheduled to import GPM’s Green Supply Chain Management and to apply for an IECQ QC 080000 certificate on Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM) by next year.
Continuing to improve quality of what we do through international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001, Axiomtek has been incorporating environmental protection management into our business practice to fulfill our statutory obligations and to win trust from our customers and stakeholders. In the year of 2016, no occupational accidents occurred to our contractors and employees. Seeing that CSR activity is an integral part of management among which stakeholders' right and interest constitutes a core of its value system, Axiomtek had formed a Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (hereinafter referred to as "CSR Team") to integrate resources among its internal functional organizations for a better management, thus reinforcing its commitment to its value systems. Led by the Chairman and CEO, the CSR Team consists of Legal Office, Procurement, Quality Assurance and Engineering, R&D, Customer Relations, Finance and Human Resources all of which have been collectively managing various issues related to stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, governments, employees, shareholders, society, and so on, during their day-to-day operation in a systematic manner, aiming to fulfill its corporate social responsibility, vision and mission.
