Power plant is engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity and generally for sale in a market. The electricity is indispensable to factories, offices, homes, commercial establishments and entertainment facilities. Lack of electricity not only causes inconvenience, but also economic loss and national competitiveness reducing.
The power plant automation system is populated with rugged I/O modules that meet strict Safety Agency requirements for isolation, surge-withstand capability and environmental specifications. Off-the-shelf hardware solutions have resulted in lower prices for hardware such as I/O modules and even controllers. The ability to supply products and services that enhance operations, for example, increasing availability, increasing efficiency, and controlling emissions, is a major requirement of the power industry today. The Power Utility industry has many unique protocols in its infrastructure, such as DNP 3.0, Modbus, LON, Profibus, etc. IEC61850 standard is for the design of electrical substation and power station automation. This standard is widely used in security and process control; sensor and switch technology; metering, supervisory control and data acquisition; automated dispatch and control; asset management; condition monitoring and diagnosis for power plant and substations.
Axiomtek’s power utility solution includes touch panel computers, DIN rail embedded systems, industrial managed/unmanaged Ethernet switches, serial device servers and media converters which support the IEC61850 standard.
Related Products
Axiomtek's GOT fanless touch panel computers feature compact size and highly reliable system design. The GOT series adopts low power consumption CPU's into its design. Features include an anti-vibration design, extended temperature operating ranges, high brightness display, NEMA 4X certification, and various embedded O.S. support.
Axiomtek’s rBOX series of DIN-rail fanless embedded systems is suitable for intelligent computing and communication solutions in critical environments, such as power plant automation, facility monitoring systems, and intelligent transportation systems. The rBOX series supports an extended temperature range of -40°C to 70°C for use in extreme operating environments. The fanless design increases reliability, extends MTTR, and ultimately reduces maintenance efforts. Front accessible I/O cabling is very convenient for wiring and maintenance. The rBOX series features a redundant Ethernet LAN connection for greater availability and reliability. The redundant power inputs minimize the risk of data loss in the event of a single power failure. Their compact size with DIN-rail mounting allows for easy installation into control cabinets. The rBOX series meets Safety Agency requirements and have passed heavy industrial EMI/EMS testing. To streamline implementation of management applications, Axiomtek has launched AXView monitoring software package. Based on SNMP protocols, AXView makes it easy for system administrators to manage and monitor remote computers.
Media Converter
Axiomtek's media converters are designed to operate in harsh environments at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 75°C (-40°F to 167°F). Whether on the factory floor or the street corner, the media converter will provide flawless communications. It may be DIN rail or panel mounted, and comes with power options to match the applications that require a tough, environmentally hardened media converter.
Industrial Ethernet Switches
Axiomtek's redundant ring managed Ethernet switches support fast recovery time (<15mS) keeping your industrial Ethernet applications running nonstop. If the primary communication path is disconnected, the redundant ring technology will provide a redundant path in the network within 15mS. The IP30 aluminum housing with DIN-rail or panel mounting helps dissipate heat efficiently making it perfect for space restricted applications. This series can be configured smartly by a web browser, CLI, and windows utility.
Axiomtek's industrial unmanaged Ethernet switches are designed to operate in the harsh environments at the edge of the network. They are available in standard 10/100 Mbps and Gigabit 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds, with both copper wire and fiber optic cable connections. Except to the Ethernet generic switches, the PoE (Power over Ethernet) switches that send both power and data through an Ethernet cable are also available. All of the switches feature DIN-rail or panel mounted, and come with power options to match the applications that require a tough, environmentally hardened Ethernet switch.
